
With the holidays approaching, one can get pretty distracted with the buzz of activity going on. I found that over the past week or so, my stress level increased and my mood slowly started to drift into perpetual gloom. I didn’t see an end in sight. As my priorities grew and more tasks were dished out on my plate, a schedule evolved. My time became noted in a little spreadsheet. I discovered that part of the problem was a. I’ve worked 27 hours in 2 days and b. I wasn’t taking time out for “me”. This time of year it’s easy to get caught up in doing everything for everyone, especially if you come from a mindset of servitude. Here are the lessons that I learned this week:
- It’s OK to say no. Yes, It’s OK.
- It’s OK to delegate tasks. You can’t do everything.
- You are entitled to pamper yourself, even if it is something simple.
- Everyone you interact with will benefit all around if they are dealing with a happy “you”.
So for the next 2 weeks I am scheduling things that I want to do for me.
Here is my list:
1. Work on crafty projects with my son
2. Learn to make candied orange peels
3. Make cookies!
4. Make gamasio and spice salt shakers for friends
5. Make popcorn garland to decorate a tree outside for the birds
6. Make birdseed Christmas ornaments
7. Take lots of hot baths
8. Read my gardening/homesteading books
9. Do some garden planning
10. Take time out to relax with family and friends
