In addition to making a few new year’s resolutions, I’ve decided to take on Design Informer’s daily design challenge, to design something every day. After reading the comments on Jad Limcaco’s post, part of me wanted to hold back and fall with the “too busy” crowd, but I chose to do it in a way that would incorporate other learning as well. This gives me the opportunity to list things general things that I’m learning and working on — “diary style”, in addition to graphic images. All posts and tweets will be filed under #daily365, and will allow room for me to work on my writing skills and development related things.
I admit, it’s a little bit awkward to post my personal progress on our studio site, but I decided to take the plunge right here on this blog. Most of the people who work with us know what kind of person I am and are comfortable with my current skill set. Plus, I have so many other blogs/projects going on that I couldn’t risk setting up yet another site to work on and have it potentially collect “dust” so to speak. Some of the people that know me are aware of my passion for GNU/Linux, so you may find bits of information here and there that’s related to my main computer operating system.
I’m really excited about the 365 daily design challenge, as it will prompt me to work on some sort of development daily. I have recently found Design Informer and can honestly say that the posts there have helped me shift into a new and different way to think about the web, especially after entering the web development/blogging community seemingly so late in the game. Working on daily designs will instigate making the moves beyond the thinking, by actually doing. Thanks Jad!
